Ronald Reagan once said, "the nine most terrifying words in the English language are I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Policing the citizens for their own good will always lead to unintended consequences. When the government claims that they just want to help you, run the other direction and run fast.
Everyone is capable of running their own lives without the micromanagement and authoritarianism of the state. They can rely on their own communities, professionals, health care providers, and leaders for voluntary support. They do not need an overarching big brother to "take care of them". Visualized in the historic sentiment is the reality of what happens when you give government the privilege to help you.
