Free speech is more important than your feelings since freedom of speech is an inalienable right and your feelings are of no value at all. You’re welcome to have your feelings all you want and share them with people who are willing to listen to them, but having those emotions does not give you the authority to take away someone else’s right to self-expression.
On the other end of free speech is the right to hear what another individual has to say. The free exchange of ideas is paramount to a free society. Adults can listen to other thoughts and sentiments and ideas and choose if they would like to accept or reject them on their own free volition. They do not need someone protecting them from said speech.
