Jefferson was correct. If you consider all of the free college and minimum wage increases. Where does it all come from? Are you doing it yourself or giving the control to people in power who could easily take it all away?
This is one of my favorite Nietzsche quotes. As I pointed out in one of my earlier posts about political correctness and religion, our younger generation needs to be careful with their righteous indignation. You may see yourselves as freedom-fighting anti-racists with unresolved savior-complexes, but history may view you otherwise if you veer toward violence and stratification.
Adam smith's invisible hand clearly illustrates that capitalism is necessary for human existence. The Free Market governs the process. Every dollar is a vote, and every person has the power to change the world. This organic exchange between free people is absolutely essential, and it is why you enjoy the most luxurious items in the world.
Let that sink in. Now that you've thought it through. Who are you eager to vote for in elections to come?
Leftists need to understand this the most. People ascending to power have always found it to be a soft touch to do so on the backs of the poor. You don't want a big corporation exploiting the poor, but you are comfortable with a politician doing worse? Many dictators have risen to power by promising to save the poor.
How often do you voluntarily support the big businesses you seek to destroy?
Ponder this quote every time you want the government to step in to silence someone you disagree with.
I know your blood is probably boiling at this one, but nevertheless it's true. We do not live in a world of endless resources. You are not entitled to the fruits of another's labor.
This is so true. Whether it be guns or pit bulls or whatever, running to the government to stop the criminals has always taken more away from law abiding citizens than you could ever possibly imagine. Except you probably already know this - you probably already see the loopholes in the drug war where millions of innocent marijuana users are imprisoned to "weed out" the bad guys.
This one speaks for itself.

The quote that Jefferson allegedly made about government big enough to give you everything is not something he ever said. There was no such government in existence during Jefferson’s time. Marxism is a modern phenomenon.

It was not Voltaire who said that comment. Evelyn Beatrice Hall coined the phrase while writing about the way Voltaire felt about something. Hall coined the phrase, not Voltaire, but it was Voltaire’s general feeling.

It was the French Philosopher Voltaire who said I may disagree with what you say, but…

It actually wasn’t Gerald Ford either…

Reading these quotes and hoping most folks aren’t so ignorant as to not see these wise truisms.

Very well written and if only others would read it to the end with an open mind.

Except the first one wasn’t Thomas Jefferson, it was Gerald Ford who said that.

Ben Clark.
While Marxist communism did not exist until after Thomas Jefferson had passed socialism in one form or another has existed for as far back as 322 BCE starting with the Maurya Empire.
But
It may be possible to Thomas Jefferson knew about and was referring to such empires it was more likely that he spoke of monarchies as they sure the same qualities in which all rights that an individual has are granted to them by the government and that government can easily strip away all of those rights
